On the fourth of August 2010 the CMCRC held its first student symposium. The purpose of the event was to give the PhD student researchers the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate the progress of their research.

The event, which will be held annually, was attended by industry research partners, domestic and international academics and a large selection of the Australian based PhD students. The Symposium which was opened by the centre’s CEO Professor Alex Frino, featured a fifteen minute presentation from 20 of the students and covered research undertaken in various finance areas and computer science domains. Students were encouraged to produce banners to summarise their research.
